The Progress Group name The Nursery at Blackburne House as the Charity of the Year

Multi award winning education and training organisation, The Progress Group, have today announced The Nursery at Blackburne House as their 2023/24 Charity of the Year. As an organisation which is driven by changing lives through the power of education and training, The Progress Group sought a charitable organisation who shared their passion for transforming lives, and where better than within a nursery setting?

The Nursery at Blackburne House is an Ofsted graded ‘Good’ provider that offers places for up to 36 children aged between 0-5 years of age. The dedicated team of professional’s pride themselves on offering a nurturing and highly supportive environment for young people, some of which have complex emotional and behavioural needs. Their approach to supporting the children in their care is one driven by warmth, compassion, and complete dedication to priding the absolute best support for the child. This approach is perfectly aligned to The Progress Group, who pride themselves on delivering a person-centered learning experience across each of their five businesses.

The Progress Group CEO Jayne Worthington remarked:

“I am elated that we have chosen The Nursery at Blackburne House as our nominated charity for this academic year. I am a massive advocate for early interventions having significant impacts later in life, so to support the nursery hopefully means that we are helping to give their young people the very best opportunities in life.

“Like any charitable organisation, funds are often limited and sparce which means that the ‘nice to haves’ simply cannot happen. But we want to change that for The Nursery at Blackburne House this year by raising funds for various items such as cultural resources and decoration costs to enable the team to give the nursery a makeover. Every penny that we fundraise will make a significant difference to the children who attend the nursery, and that to me is priceless.”

Quick to get started, Progress Schools, one of the subsidiaries of The Progress Group, have already donated £700 to the nursery. Funds which were used for the construction and early reading resources for the children in their preschool rooms.

Blackburne House CEO, Andrea Rushton said:

“Support from organisations such as The Progress Group provides an invaluable assistance to organisations such as our own, and we are particularly excited to work with a company whose values and culture is so aligned to our own.

“We have already welcomed colleagues from The Progress Group to see The Nursery at Blackburne House, and I know that both the nursery staff and progress colleagues have enjoyed learning more about each other and discussing the ways in which The Progress Group plan to support us. From sponsored walks to attending their all-staff conference, we are really looking forward to working alongside them.”

The Nursery at Blackburne House is the latest charity that The Progress Group is supporting, with other organisations supported across the Group including Young Minds, Cancer Research UK and Care Workers Charity to name just a few.

The Progress Group (TPG), has announced The Standing Tall Foundation as its nominated charity of the year.

The Progress Group names The Standing Tall Foundation as its charity of the year

Leading education and training specialists, The Progress Group (TPG), has announced The Standing Tall Foundation as its nominated charity of the year. The news will see the two organisations bring together their combined knowledge to work simultaneously to drive forward social mobility across the UK.

It is no surprise that the Foundation was named TPG’s charity of the year. Both organisations work to provide education, training and support to individuals of all ages, helping them to secure positive outcomes whilst having a long-term impact on their lives.

The Standing Tall Foundation was founded in 2020, with a clear aim of supporting the health and wellbeing of individuals of all ages and backgrounds by giving them to access things such as educational programmes, mental health services, and drug and alcohol abuse rehabilitation support. The Foundation also works closely with ex-military personnel, supporting them to reintegrate back in to communities after serving in the armed forces.

The partnership has already got off to a storming success, with Complete Training Solution’s recently offering a number of sponsored placements for ex-military on one of their newest courses, Basic Safety Training, helping them to re-skill in order to peruse an alternative career after leaving the military.

Speaking on the partnership, The Progress Group’s CEO, Jayne Worthington, said;

‘’I am thrilled that The Standing Tall Foundation was voted as our charity of the year! At The Progress Group, we are committed to delivering on our promise to drive forward social mobility and provide individuals with a high-quality training and education, a mission shared by the Foundation.’

‘’We are always looking for new ways to build strong partnerships in the communities where we operate, just like the Foundation. Our shared values and commitment to raising aspirations and helping individuals to overcome barriers will undoubtedly help us have a positive impact on the lives of countless individuals over the coming year and beyond.’

‘’I am looking forward to working closely with the Foundation in the coming months to see how we can support each other and achieve our mission together.’’

John Tabern, CEO of The Standing Tall Foundation said:

“To use, forging long-term relationships with organisations such as The Progress Group are priceless, as for us to be able to achieve our vision, we need to work collaboratively with like minded organisations to share best practice and help connect our users to the services and support the need, either directly via the Foundation or via third parties.

“That’s one reason why we are so excited to be name as The Progress Group’s charity of the year, as their approach to this partnership goes beyond fundraising or donations to also include opportunities to share knowledge, skills and connections, for the benefits of our users and you can’t put a price on that.”

The Progress Group is a group of specialist education and training providers, supporting individuals from the age of 11 to 65. Made up of two divisions, the Group subsidiaries serve a wealth of industries from Renewable Energy to Health and Social Care to Alternative Education. As a collective, the Group has supported thousands of individuals to access high-quality and effective education and training that has helped them progress into positive destinations.

Complete Training Solutions (CTS) are singing the praises of team member, Ken Reed, who returned to the NHS to volunteer as a paramedic during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ken, who has been a medical professional since 1984, spent over a decade working in the oil and gas industry as a medic stationed on seismic vessels, drilling rigs and ships. Ken then went on to continue his work as a medic in the Cayman Islands for five years.

Shortly after returning to the UK, he started sharing his knowledge, skills and experience with individuals who wanted to follow in his footsteps, by becoming an instructor in the medical field. More recently, he has been working for CTS to deliver the likes of First Aid training to individuals looking to work in the renewable energy sector.

Talking of his experiences, Ken said;

“Working in the medical field got right under my skin and I loved it. It’s the best job ever. I even met my wife through my job. I learnt a lot through living abroad because I dealt with a lot of things that you would never normally deal with in England, like treating people with stingray bites! But this knowledge really helped me when I did return to the UK.”

Then, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ken decided it was time to once again step up and use his knowledge where it was needed the most, and volunteered in the Liverpool City Region as a Paramedic. Since starting his volunteering in April, he’s been working 2 shifts per week with an old partner from his early years in the profession.

Tom Powell, CEO at Complete Training Solutions said, “Everyone at CTS are incredibly proud of Ken’s volunteering efforts. His desire to step-up and give something back is so humbling and inspirational, I have been so impressed by his dedication to his local community.

“Ken has a wealth of experience in the sector, and he really brings the courses to life for our delegates, so I am really pleased to see him use this knowledge and expertise to help our nation during such tough times.”

Ken now plans to return to his day job at Complete Training Solutions to continue delivering high levels of training to their thousands of delegates.
